Dover, Del. (Mar. 1, 2010) --- Delaware State freshman forward Marques Oliver has been recognized by the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) for the second straight week.

Oliver was named MEAC Men's Basketball Rookie-of-the-Week today after averaging 17 points, six rebounds and 2.5 blocks in two games last week. His top performance was a career-best 23-point effort in the Hornets 59-41 win over Coppin State on Feb. 22. He was 10-for-14 from the field, while blocking a career-high five shots in that contest.

The Durham, N.C., native was also named MEAC Rookie-of-the-Week on Feb. 22.

Oliver is averaging 5.5 points 3.3 rebounds per-game for the Hornets this season. He's shooting 57.7% from the field (56-for-97) and leads the team with 21 blocks, ranking 12^th in the MEAC in the category (0.8 bpg). 

Oliver and the Hornets will play their final regular season game this Thursday at home against Maryland-Eastern Shore. Game time is 7:30 p.m. in Memorial Hall.
