Dover, Del. (Oct. 8, 2019) --- A battle with First State rival Delaware at the 76ers Fieldhouse in Wilmington and 14 home games highlight the 2019-20 Delaware State men’s basketball schedule.

The Hornets and Blue Hens will meet for the 20th time on Monday, Dec. 16 at the home of the NBA G League Delaware Blue Coats in the first neutral site meeting between the state’s two NCAA Division I teams. The tip-off time has yet to be announced.

Delaware holds a 14-5 lead in the series, although Delaware State won the last meeting 73-71 on a basket in the final seconds last December at the Bob Carpenter Center on the UD campus in Newark.

Ticket prices for the Dec. 16 DSU/UD contest at the 76ers Fieldhouse are $30 for floor seats and $18 for bleacher seats.

Delaware State’s 29-game 2019-20 regular season schedule also includes 14 home games in Memorial Hall on the DSU campus.


The season tips-off at home on Nov. 8 against Rider at 7:00 p.m.


The Hornets will play five of their next six games on the road, including visits to Georgia of the Southeast Conference on Nov. 15 and Virginia Tech of the ACC on Nov. 20.


The only home game during the span is a Nov. 18 contest against Long Island at 7:00 p.m.


DSU will also play home games against non-conference Div. I opponents Coastal Carolina on Nov. 30 and Loyola (Md.) on Dec. 4.


Delaware State will begin Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference play at home against Morgan State on Saturday Jan. 4. This season, the Hornets’ four Saturday home MEAC contests are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., followed by the DSU women’s game.

The other 2:00 p.m. home Saturday MEAC starts are Jan. 11 vs. North Carolina Central, Feb. 1 against Coppin State and Feb. 15 vs. Florida A&M.

The Hornets’ Monday 2019-20 home MEAC contests vs. North Carolina A&T (Jan. 13), Maryland-Eastern Shore (Feb. 3), Bethune-Cookman (Feb. 17) and Norfolk State (Mar. 2) are scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

In addition to the victory at Delaware, the Hornets’ 2018-19 season under first-year head coach Eric Skeeters was highlighted by the team’s first MEAC Tournament win (vs. Savannah State) since 2015.
