Dover, Del. (Mar. 8, 2019) --- Delaware State swingman Kevin Larkin (gr.) has been named to the 2018-19 All-MEAC Men’s Basketball Third Team in voting by league head coaches and media relations representatives announced today.

Larkin was tops on the Hornets and fourth in the MEAC in scoring at 15.9 points per game, and was second in the league in rebounding at 9.0 per game during the 2018-19 regular season.

In addition, he is tied for second in the conference with 11 “double-doubles” this season.

On Dec. 3, 2018 vs. Cairn, Larkin scored a career-high 40 points, the top single-game total in the MEAC this season.  He also had 11 rebounds, six assists and four steals to lead the Hornets to a 102-66 victory in that contest.

Larkin reached double-figures in scoring in 20 of the 24 games in which he competed, topping the 20-point mark five times.

His season was also highlighted by the game-winning basket with 3.4 seconds left to play in the Hornets’ 73-71 victory at Delaware on Dec. 19.

A native of Georgetown, Del., and product of Sussex Tech High School, Larkin attended Cheyney University (Pa.) and Niagara (N.Y.) before returning to the First State to attend DSU and compete for the Hornets this season.     

Howard University sophomore RJ Cole was selected as the 2018-19 MEAC Player-of-the-Year. Florida A&M freshman MJ Randolph is the voters’ choice for league Rookie-of-the-Year, while Bethune-Cookman junior Cletrell Pope was chosen as the top defensive player.

Norfolk State’s Rob Jones is the MEAC Coach-of-the-Year after leading the Spartans to the 2018-19 regular season league championship with a 15-1 record.  

Delaware State will play in the first 2019 MEAC Men’s Basketball Tournament contest on Monday against Savannah State.  Game time is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. at the Scope Arena in Norfolk, Va.
