Delaware State (3-17; 0-7 MEAC) is looking to snap a nine -game losing streak, including each of its seven MEAC contests. The Hornets are coming off an 80-74 loss to Howard in their last meeting on Jan. 26. DSU trailed 17-5 in the early going, but pulled to within 38-34 at the half. The Hornets trailed by three points in the second half, but could get no closer. Kevin Larkin led four Delaware State players in double-figures with 19 points, highlighted by three three-point field goals. Pinky Wiley and D’Marco Baucum added 13 points each, while Ameer Bennett contributed 10 points for the Hornets in the Howard contest. Wiley also led all players with a career-high eight assists. In addition, he topped the Hornets with eight rebounds in the game. Larkin is the Hornets’ leader and fourth in the MEAC in scoring 16.6 points per game. He also the MEAC season-high of 40 points in DSU’s 90-61 victory over Cairn on Dec. 3. Wiley is No. 1 in the MEAC in steals at 2.1 per game and is fifth in the league is assists at 4.2 per contest.
Savannah State (5-15; 2-4 MEAC) is coming off an 82-78 home loss to North Carolina Central last Monday. Jacquan Dotson led three SSU players in double-figures with 18 points in the game. Zack Sellers added 15 points and John Grant, Jr. 13 for the Tigers in the NC Central contest. Dotson is tops on the Tigers and 10th in the MEAC in scoring at 3.1 points per game. Savannah State is second in the league in scoring at 77.2 points per game and the conference leader in three-point field goals at 11.6 per contest.
HORNETS vs. Tigers Series History (SSU leads 4-2)
This is the only scheduled meeting between the teams this season. Savannah State won the only 2017-18 meeting 106-86 in Dover, Del., giving the Tigers a four-game win streak in the series. Delaware State won the first two series meetings.
