Dover, Del. (Jan. 30, 2018) --- Delaware State swingman Marquis Collins (r-fr.) has been honored by the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference for his performance in the Hornets’ contest against Savannah State last Saturday.

Collins has been named MEAC Rookie-of-the-Week after scoring a career-high 30 points in the game. He was 11-for-13 from the field, including 4-of-6 on three-point shots, and knocked down four free throws in five attempts.

Collins has the top two single-game scoring marks for the Hornets this season. In addition to the 30 points last Saturday, he tallied 24 vs. Florida A&M on Jan. 15.

The Chester, Pa., native has totaled 82 points in the last four contests to raise his season scoring average to 8.3 per game.

Collins and his Hornet teammates begin a two-game road swing at North Carolina Central this Saturday (Feb. 3 @ 2 p.m.). DSU will wrap up the trip at North Carolina A&T next Monday (Feb. 5 @ 7;30 p.m.)
