Durham, N.C. (Feb. 11, 2019) --- North Carolina Central didn’t need a last-second shot to defeat Delaware State in the second meeting between the teams this season.  Zacarry Douglas led four NCCU double-figure scorers with 19 points in the Eagles’ 87-52 victory at McLendon-McDougald Gym Monday evening. The victory completed season sweep of the Hornets by North Carolina Central, which defeated Delaware State 71-70 on a last second shot in the first meeting between the teams on Jan. 14 at DSU’s Memorial Hall.

Randy Miller added 14 points, highlighted by four three-pointers (4-6), while Raasean Davis and Larry McKnight, Jr. contributed 10 points each for the Eagles.

Kevin Larkin was the only Delaware State scorer to reach double-figures, tying for game-high honors with 19 points. Larkin also led all players with 10 rebounds to give him a team-high nine double-doubles this season.

The score was 9-9 before NC Central took control with an 18-0 run during a five-minute stretch of the first half. McKnight capped off the run with a tip-in basket to give the Eagles a 27-9 lead with 10:52 left in the half.

The Hornets missed each of their 11 shots and committed a turnover during the NCCU run.

DSU trailed 49-30 at the half.

The Eagles led by as many as 40 points in the second half, and outscored the Hornets 38-22 in the final 20 minutes.

NC Central shot 50 percent for the game, connecting on 32 of their 64 shots from the field, including 10 of 26 from three-point range (38.5%).

The Hornets hit just 21 of their 67 shots (31.3%) and only four-of-27 from beyond the arc (14.8%).
