Dover, Del. (Apr. 10, 2017) --- Delaware State freshman Ciaran Devenney has been honored by the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference for his play last week. Devenney was selected as the MEAC Rookie-of-the-Week today after hitting .385 (5-for-13) with a home run, two doubles and eight RBI in four games for the Hornets last week.

He was 2-for-3 with his first collegiate grand slam, a career-best six RBI and four runs scored in DSU’s 19-3 victory over Norfolk State on Apr. 8.  

Devenney was 5-for-10 at the plate in last weekend’s three-game series against Norfolk State,

The Manalapan, N.J., native is tops on the Hornets with 19 runs batted in and is tied for the team lead with two home runs this season.

He’s also second on the team in slugging percentage (.452) and on-base percentage (.413), and third on the club with a .298 batting average.

Delaware State returns to action with a visit to Towson on Wed. (Apr. 12 at 3:30 p.m.).
