Dover, Del. (Apr. 29, 2019) --- Delaware State’s Garrett Lawson (jr.) continues to make a case for MEAC post-season honors.

Lawson today was named MEAC Pitcher-of-the-Week for a league-high third time this season. He was honored by the league this week for his three-hit, seven strikeout performance in the Hornets’ 14-0 win over Norfolk State on Apr. 27.

Lawson was also named MEAC Pitcher-of-the-Week on Apr. 1 and Apr. 15.

This season, Lawson is second in the MEAC with seven wins (7-3), tops in the league with a 1.51 earned run average and among the leaders with two shutouts and 88 strikeouts. The team record for strikeouts in a season is 111 by Shawn Phillips in 2004.

The Hornets will close out the 2019 regular season with a three-game home series against MEAC North leader Coppin State this weekend.
