Dover, Del. (Apr. 25, 2017) ---The Delaware State baseball team looks to avenge a loss to George Washington earlier this season when the Colonials visit Soldier Field on Wednesday. Game time is scheduled for 3 p.m.

The Hornets fell to GW 9-6 on Feb. 22 in Arlington, Va. Austin Bentley had three RBI, including a two-run homer in the game for DSU.

The Hornets have won their last three games to improve to 15-19 this season. Delaware State is coming off a 9-0 victory over Maryland-Eastern Shore on Sunday. Bentley smacked a three-run homer in that contest.

Catcher/first baseman Evan Regez is DSU's leading hitter at .367. Regez has hit safely in eight of the last nine games, posting a .400 average during the span (14-for-35).

Freshman 3B Jared Gillis, the reigning MEAC Rookie-of-the-Week, has been DSU's hottest hitter of late, raising his average to .331. Gillis is the team leader with three home runs and third on the club with 22 runs batted in. He's hitting .455 (10-for-22) with a homer and eight RBI in the last six games.

Delaware State's 2B Kwestin Smith was named MEAC Player-of-the-Week on Monday. Smith is batting .286 and ranks third in the MEAC with a .453 on-base percentage, keyed by a league-high 33 bases on balls.
