Dover, Del. (May 15, 2018) --- Delaware State’s Darnell Maisonet (jr.; Tall Pines, N.J.) and Cole Garey (fr.; Felton, Del.) have been honored by the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference  for their play this season.  

Maisonet, selected as a 2018 All-MEAC Third Team outfielder, was tops on the Hornets with a .297 overall average (.341 vs. MEAC opponents) and five home runs to tie for eighth in the league during the regular season. He was tied for second on the Hornets with 20 runs batted in and ranked third on the team with 35 hits.

In addition, Maisonet appeared in eight games as a pitcher, posting a 2-3 overall record and leading the team with a 2.98 earned run average (1.93 vs. MEAC), while recording 45 strikeouts in 42.1 innings pitched.  He was selected as the MEAC’s Pitcher-of-the-Week after a six-hit, 11-strikeout performance in a shutout of Maryland-Eastern Shore.

Garey, selected as the All-MEAC Third Team utility player, split time at first base and designated hitter as a true freshman this season. He was No. 1 on the Hornets with 31 runs batted in, while topping the team and ranking third in the MEAC in doubles at .33 per game (14 total). 
Garey was also second on the Hornets with a .284 batting average (.293 vs. MEAC) and was the team leader with 64 total bases.
