Dover, Del. (Mar. 12, 2018) --- Fairleigh Dickinson completed a four-game sweep of Delaware State with 3-0 and 5-4 seven-inning victories over the Hornets at Soldier Field on Sunday.

In the opener, FDU’s Corey Zeller scattered six singles, while striking out three and walking two in the complete game shutout.

Six players had one hit each for Delaware State in the contest. The Hornets were also plagued by four errors in the contest.

In Sunday’s nightcap, DSU led by two runs before allowing three runs in the top of the sixth inning.

FDU opened the scoring with a run in the top of the first inning.

The Hornets answered with three runs in the bottom of the third, two on a single by Rich Rountree.

Delaware State scored a run on a wild pitch in the fifth to open up a 4-2 lead.

Freshman catcher Alex Vasquez had two of the Hornets’ eight hits in the game.

DSU (2-14) is scheduled to return to action on Tues. (Mar. 13) with a home game against Towson. First pitch is set for 3:00 p.m. The Hornets will also host Navy on Thurs. (Mar. 15) at 3:00 before beginning MEAC North play with a weekend series (Mar. 17-18) against Norfolk State at Soldier Field.
