Berlin, Md. (Oct. 17) --- The Delaware State took first place in the women’s bracket at the two-day Maryland-Eastern Shore Collegiate Golf Challenge this week. Also, DSU’s Ana Candela Ferreyra Heit was the individual champion in the field of 14 competitors.
The Hornets chopped 10 strokes off their opening day score with a combined total of 330 in today’s second round for a two-day mark of 670 (+94), topping second place Hampton by 32 strokes and host Maryland-Eastern Shore by 186 strokes.
Delaware State and Hampton were tied for first after Tuesday’s opening round, but the Hornets were 32 strokes better than the Pirates in today’s competition.
Heit, also the leader after the opening round, matched her day one score of 80 today for a combined total of 160 (+16). Jakari Harris of Hampton was second at 163 (+19), posting scores of 81 and 82 in the two rounds.
Delaware State’s Kanyakorn Chothirunpanit was third overall with a two-day total of 166 (+22), with scores of 83 each day.
