Dover, Del. (Apr. 30, 2019) --- Delaware State University Director of Athletics D. Scott Gines has announced that Kari Lei Berry has resigned as Hornets’ head women’s lacrosse coach, effective May 15.

Berry had an overall record of 2-35 in three seasons since appointed as head coach of the Hornets in 2017, including a 1-20 mark in conference games. Delaware State was 1-11 overall and 0-6 in conference play during the recently completed 2019 season.

She served as the Hornets’ assistant lacrosse coach for four seasons from 2013, when the program began, until 2016.

"I want to express my sincere gratitude to Coach Berry Johnson for her dedicated service to the women’s lacrosse program, the athletics department, and Delaware State University the past seven years," said Gines. “On behalf of the university, I extend best wishes to Kari-Lei in her future endeavors.”

Gines says a national search will soon begin for a new head coach of the Delaware State women’s lacrosse team.
