Greenville, N.C. (Mar. 24, 2018) --- East Carolina scored seven goals in the first eight minutes and never looked back in a 16-2 women’s lacrosse victory over visiting Delaware State today. Britanny Borchers and Sam Caputo came of the bench to lead the Pirates with three goals each. Borchers also had an assist to lead all players with four points in the game.

Three players recorded two goals each for ECU. A total of 10 Pirates scored in the game.

Caputo’s second goal of the game gave East Carolina a 6-0 lead at the 23:22 mark of the opening period.

Delaware State trailed 15-0 when freshman Akina Wollie scored her first career goal on a free position shot with 8:35 left to play.

Lauren Perry scored DSU’s second goal with 3:43 remaining. Perry is tied for the team lead with seven goals this season.

The Hornets return to action next Thursday (Mar. 29) against Coastal Carolina. Game time is 4:00 p.m. at DE Turf in Frederica.
