Mercer, Ga. (Apr. 9, 2017) --- Mercer scored two goals in the opening minute and never looked back in a 26-1 victory over Delaware State in an ASUN contest today.
A total of 17 Mercer scored in the contest. Lindsey Zeltwanger, Meghan Segreti and Eva Thorn led the Bears with three scores each. Zeltwanger also had two assists for a game-high five points. Segreti and Thorn also notched an assist to total four points in the contest.
Zeltwanger scored the game’s first goal just 20 seconds into the contest. Erica Coyne gave the Bears a 2-0 lead with a goal off a feed from Segreti at the 29:09 mark of the first period.
Mercer led 6-0 after five minutes of play and was ahead 17-0 at the break.
Delaware State scored its lone goal on a shot by Brionna Watkins with nine seconds left to play.
The Hornets were outshot 46-9 in the contest.
DSU returns to action with a visit to Furman on Friday (Apr. 14). Game time is 4:00 p.m. in Greenville, S.C.
The next home game is Apr. 21 against Central Michigan (5:00 p.m.).
