Kennesaw, Ga. (Apr. 7, 2017) --- Kennesaw scored eight goals in the first 10 minutes and maintained control throughout the game in a 26-3 victory over Delaware State in an Atlantic Sun women’s lacrosse contest this evening. The Owls snapped a three-game losing streak to improve to 5-6 overall and 2-3 in the ASUN. The Hornets dropped their third straight to fall to 1-4 and 1-3.

A total of twelve Kennesaw State players scored in the contest, led by Olivia Hokanson who came off the bench to tally a game-high four goals. She also had two assists in the contest.

Conner Zophy scored twice and assisted on five goals to post a game-high seven points.

Nine players had multiple goals for the Owls.

Kennesaw State led 7-0 before Olivia Summerville scored on a free position shot at the 20:37 mark of the first period to get Delaware State on the board.

The Owls were ahead 13-1 when Kayla Yurkanin tallied her sixth goal of the season for the Hornets.

Delaware State trailed 18-2 at the half.

Iman Hassan posted her ninth goal of the season and 40th of her career with 22:56 left to play round the scoring for DSU.

Kennesaw State held a 52-20 advantage in shots. Delaware State goal keeper Liz Henry recorded a season-high 12 saves in the game.

The Hornets will return to action with an ASUN contest at Mercer on Sunday. Game time is 12:00 p.m. in Mercer, Ga.

DSU’s next home game is Apr. 21 against Central Michigan.
