St. Bonaventure, N.Y. (Dec. 1, 2018) --- Jalen Poyser led five St. Bonaventure double-figure scorers with 20 points in a 90-61 victory over Delaware State today.

The Bonnies won their second straight game to improve to 3-5 this season, while Hornets dropped their third in a row to fall to 1-7.

Saleik Edwards (sr.) led four Delaware State players in double –figures with 15 points. Edwards was five-for-six from the field, including four-of-five, on three-point shots.

DSU’s Kevin Larkin (sr.) returned to action after missing the previous game due to injury to match his season-high with 13 points. Larkin also led all players with 11 rebounds. Ameer Bennett added 12 points, while Jonathan Mitchell tallied 10 points for the Hornets.

Delaware State only trailed 13-9 before St. Bonaventure stretched the lead to double-figures. Poyser capped off a 10-0 run with two free throws to give the Bonnies a 23-9 lead with 8:44 left in the first half.

St. Bonaventure upped its lead to 40-21 at the break.

After the Bonnies opened up a 44-21 lead, Delaware State answered with a 13-4 run to stay in the game. Larkin capped off the rally with a jumper to pull the Hornets to within 48-34 at the 15:50 mark of the second half.     

DSU could get no closer than 14 points the rest of the way.

Courtney Stockard and Nelson Kaputo added 16 points each for St. Bonaventure.

Delaware State shot 33.9% from the field in the game, hitting 19 of its 56 shots, including six for 19 from three-point territory (31.6%).

The Bonnies nailed 34 of their 60 shots from the field (56.7%), including 12 of 25 from beyond the arc (48%).

The Hornets won the rebound battle 37-32. St. Bonaventure had 26 assists on its 34 baskets, while DSU was credited with just seven assists.

Delaware State is back in action at home on Monday (Dec. 3) to take on Cairn. Game time is 7 p.m. in Memorial Hall.
