Phoenix, Ariz. (Nov. 10, 2018) --- Oscar Fryer and Trey Drechsel lead four double-figure scorers to propel Grand Canyon to an 89-48 win over Delaware State in a men’s basketball contest Saturday evening.  Alessandro Lever added 14 points and Carlos Johnson 13 for the Antelopes, who improved to 1-1 this season.

Pinky Wiley was high scorer for Delaware State with a game-high 16 points, highlighted by three-of-four shooting from three-point range. Saleik Edwards added 11 points for the Hornets.

Grand Canyon shot 52.2% in the contest, connecting on 36-of-69 shots from the field. Delaware State hit just 15 of its 54 shots for a 27.0% shooting percentage.

The Hornets were also outrebounded 51-31.

Delaware State held an early 6-4 lead after three-pointers by Edwards and Fahim Jenneto before Grand Canyon pulled away. The Antelopes responded with a 16-3 run, and opened up a 20-9 lead after a lay-up by Michael Finke with 10:32 left in the first half.

The Hornets pulled to within 20-15 on a lay-up by Ameer Bennett, but GBC answered with an 11-3 run to open up a 31-18 lead.

The Lopes held a 39-27 advantage at the break.

Grand Canyon led by as many as 44 points in the second half.

The Hornets return to action on Tuesday (Nov. 13) against Loyola (Md.). Game time is set for 7:00 p.m. in Baltimore.
