Delaware State begins a stretch of six straight road games with a visit to Conference USA’s North Texas University. The Hornets (2-0) cruised by Baptist Bible 104-63 in their last contest on Monday. DeAndre Haywood (sr.) led four Hornets in double figures with 18 points. Haywood leads DSU in scoring at 20.5 points per game. Larry Haley (jr.) came off the bench to add a career-high 17 points in the Baptist Bible contest. Haley was six-for-10 from the field, including three-of-six from three-point territory  Kendall Gray (sr.) had his 13th career-high double-double vs. Baptist Bible, contributing 15 points and 12 rebounds to the win. Todd Hughes (sr.) scored 15 points (7-9 FGs) and grabbed seven rebounds in his first collegiate game in the last outing. Delaware State was 39-for-75 from the field (52%), including 10-of-27 from beyond the arc vs. Baptist Bible. The Hornets had 17 assists and 10 turnovers in the contest. DSU opened the season with a 77-75 overtime win at Penn in the historic Palestra in Philadelphia last Saturday. Delaware State is seeking its second 3-0 start in the last three seasons. The Hornets opened the 2012-13 campaign with wins over Gwynedd-Mercy, Phila. Biblical and Wagner (ot) before suffering their first loss.

North Texas is also off to a 2-0 start. The Mean Green are coming off a 71-57 victory over Nicholls State on Monday. Jordan Williams led the team with 21 points and 10 rebounds, marking his sixth double-double at N. Texas. T.J. Taylor added 14 points and seven rebounds for the Green in the Nicholls State contest. North Texas led 31-21 at the break. The Mean Green held a 56-34 rebound advantage in contest. Williams leads NTU in scoring at 16.5 points per game, while Taylor is second at 14.0 ppg. The Mean Green opened the 2014-15 season with an 84-62 win over Arkansas-Monticello on Nov. 14. N. Texas is seeking its first 3-0 start since the 2007-08 season.     

This will be the first meeting between the Hornets and Mean Green. Delaware State was successful in its last contest against a Conference USA team, posting a 53-51 victory at Marshall on Jan. 2, 2013. The Hornets are 1-7 all-time vs. current members of C-USA.  The Hornets are 0-2 vs. UTEP; 0-1 vs. Charlotte; 0-4 vs. Old Dominion; and 1-0 vs. Marshall.  Delaware State and North Texas have one common opponent this season. The Hornets will visit Iona (N.Y.) on November 26, three days after The Gaels are at North Texas (Nov. 23).
