Dover, Del. (Apr. 21, 2012) --- Troy Drummond was 4-for-4 with three runs batted in, and Aaron Nardone was 3-for-3 with two RBI in Delaware State's 17-2 win over UMES in a MEAC North contest at Soldier Field today.

The game was called after UMES batted in the seventh due to the 10-run rule.

The Hornets won their seventh straight game to improve to 25-14-1 overall and 14-1 in the MEAC North. UMES fell to 9-31 and 8-10.

Drummond had a bunt single in the bottom of the first and scored the first run of the game when Cameron Cecil reached base on a UMES error.

The Hornets scored two runs in the first and two in the second to take a 4-0 lead.

Delaware State led 5-2 when Drummond doubled in two runs in the third. He doubled in another run in the fifth to give the Hornets an 8-2 lead.

DSU added six more runs in the fifth to lead 14-2.

Drummond also singled and scored in DSU's three-run sixth.  

Nardone singled and scored a run in the second inning. He had two singles in the fifth, the second of which drove in two runs.

JP Frey had two hits and a RBI, while Eddie Sorondo and Peter Broehl drove in two runs each for the Hornets.

DSU's seven-game win streak is its longest since a nine game streak in 2003.

Delaware State returns to action on Tuesday (Apr. 24) at home against La Salle. Game time is 3:00 p.m. at Soldier Field.

Delaware State baseball
