College Park, Md. (Apr. 12, 2011) --- Three Maryland pitchers combined on a three-hit shutout in the Terps' 8-0 win over Delaware State at Bob Smith Field this evening.

Starter Eric Potter (3-4) earned the win after scattering three singles and striking out four in five innings for the Terps. Relievers Blair Delean and Jeff Crosswhite held the Hornets without a hit over the last four innings.

Curtis Lazar knocked in two runs, while Ryan Holland and Michael Montville had two hits each to lead Maryland's eight hit attack. Holland and Montville also drove in one run each.

Ryan Haas, Aaron Nardone and Troy Drummond had the only hits for Delaware State, which stranded nine men on base.

Maryland opened the scoring when Lazar singled in a run in the bottom of the second inning. The Terps added three runs in the third to open up a 4-0 lead.

Maryland scored two runs in the sixth and seventh innings to close out the scoring.

Hornet starter Elliot Gardner (3-4) was the losing pitcher after allowing four hits and four runs (three strikeouts) in 2.1 innings.

Delaware State returns to action on Saturday with a MEAC doubleheader at Florida A&M. The series will conclude with a single game on Sunday in Tallahassee, Fla.
