Dover, Del. (Mar. 15, 2011) --- Trey DeRouen, Brandon Crist and Scott Davis drove in three runs each, and Tommy Dill tossed eight strong innings to lead Delaware State to a 15-4 baseball win over Fairleigh Dickinson at Soldier Field this afternoon.

The Hornets snapped a five-game losing streak to improve to 4-11, while the Knights lost their fifth straight to fall to 3-7.

DeRouen had three of DSU's 12 hits, including a double. Crist, Keith Hernandez and Joey Babuca tallied two hits each.

The Hornets opened the scoring with two runs in the first inning. DeRouen and Ryan Haas each had run-scoring singles in the first.

Delaware State stretched its lead to 3-0 when Troy Drummond scored on a ground out by Davis.

The Hornets scored five runs in the third to lead 8-0. Crist had a two-run single and Davis doubled in two in the inning. DSU also scored a run on a Fairleigh Dickinson error in the third. The Knights committed six errors in the contest.

After FDU scored two runs in the top of the fourth, the Hornets answered with two in the bottom of the inning to open up a 10-2 lead.

Babuca had a run-scoring triple and Crist singled in the other fourth inning run.

Delaware State scored two runs on just one hit in the fifth, and closed out the scoring with three in the seventh inning. DeRouen singled in a run and the Hornets scored two more on FDU errors in the seventh.

Dill allowed eight hits and four runs, three earned, in eight innings to improve to 2-1 on the season. He struck out five and walked three in the contest.

The Hornets return to action on Wednesday at Delaware. Game time is 3:00 p.m. at UD's Bob Hannah Stadium.
