Lynchburg, Va. (Mar. 7, 2010) --- Nathan Thompson drove in five runs and Steven Evans pitched six strong innings to lead Liberty to a 10-1 victory over Delaware State, and complete a sweep of the three-game series at Worthington Stadium.

The Hornets dropped their fourth straight game to fall to 3-6 on the season, while Liberty improved to 9-0.

The Flames opened the scoring with four runs in the bottom of the first inning, highlighted by a three-run homer by Thompson.

Delaware State pulled to within 4-1 after a run in the top of the fifth. Tony Gatto led off the inning with a walk. He advanced to third on a one-out double by Joey Babuca, and scored on an error by Liberty centerfielder Curran Redal.

The Flames got the run back in the bottom of the fifth on a sacrifice fly by Thompson.

Liberty blew the game open with five runs in the seventh. Thompson singled in his fifth run of the game in the inning.

Evans tossed six innings, allowing five hits and striking out eight to earn the win for the Flames.

Ryan Haas (0-2) was the losing pitcher for the Hornets.

Delaware State returns to action on Wednesday (Mar. 10) at Temple.
