Jose Portela had a double for one of Delaware State's three hits

Lynchburg, Va. (Mar. 6, 2010) --- Liberty scored in each inning, while holding Delaware State to three hits in a 16-0 victory over the Hornets at Worthington Stadium this afternoon.

DSU dropped its third straight game to fall to 3-5, while the Flames improved to 8-0.

Liberty had 14 hits, including six for extra bases. Third baseman Tyler Bream with 1-for-4 with four runs batted in, while first baseman Justin Sizemore was 2-for-3 with two RBI. Ten players knocked in at least one run for the Flames.

Mike Rizzuto and Joey Babuca each singled, and Jose Portela had a double to account for Delaware State's hits.

Liberty opened the scoring with five runs in the first inning, highlighted by Bream's three-run double. The Flames added single runs in each of the next three innings to open up an 8-0 lead. Liberty led 10-0 before tacking on six runs in the sixth.

Starter Keegan Linza was the winning pitcher for the Flames. He tossed six shutout innings, allowing three hits and striking out two, to improve to 3-0 on the season.

Zach Adkins (1-2) was tagged with the loss for Delaware State.

The Hornets and Flames will wrap up their three-game series on Sunday.
