Princess Anne, Md. (Apr. 20, 2013) --- Jordan Elliott tied the Delaware State University record for pitching wins in the Hornets' 7-3 victory over Maryland-Eastern Shore in the first game of a doubleheader at Hawk Field this afternoon. DSU swept the twin-bill with a 7-4 win in the seven-inning nightcap.

In the opener, Elliott allowed seven hits and three runs, while striking out eight, in 7.2 innings. He improved to 6-1 this season and 25-12 in his career, tying Tim Vaillancourt (2000-03) for the most wins in team history.

Mike Alexander and Eddie Sorondo drove in two runs each in the opener for the Hornets.

In game two, Matt McClain threw six strong innings and George Michael picked up his fourth save of the season. McClain allowed nine hits and four runs, three earned, while striking out six to improve to 6-2 this season. Michael threw a scoreless seventh inning to earn the save.

The score was 3-3 before the Hornets scored two runs in the sixth and two in the seventh to take control.

The doubleheader sweep gives DSU a 26-11 overall record. The Hornets are tops in the MEAC North with a 15-2 mark in league play.
