DOVER, Del. - Senior Casey Beighley (Los Angeles, Calif.) and sophomore Stephanie Martello (Oxnard, Calif.) combined for five hits, four RBI and two home runs as the Delaware State University softball team defeated Towson University, 6-1, in their final home game of the season early Tuesday evening at the Hornets' Nest.

With two outs in the bottom of the second, Beighley put the Hornets on the board with her third home run of the season, a shot over the left field fence to give DSU a 1-0 advantage.
The Tigers responded in the top of the third with their lone run of the game as sophomore Mickelle Oslin walked and scored on a double to center from senior leadoff batter Andrea Stevenson.
Del State countered in the bottom of the frame, scoring two runs on five hits to take the 3-1 lead. Reid led off the stanza with a bunt single and then moved to second on a single to the shortstop from Martello. Senior Breanne Parr (Camarillo, Calif.) followed with a double to left center, scoring Reid. With a fly out to centerfield, Martello got caught at home for the second out of the inning as Parr moved to third. Parr then scored on a single from sophomore Ashlyn Campbell (Trabuco Canyon, Calif.) before the end of the inning.
The Hornets tacked on three more runs with a new pitcher in the circle for Towson in the bottom of the fourth. With runners on first and second, Martello recorded her fifth home run of the season with a hit over center field fence.
The Tigers threatened in the top of the fifth as Beighley allowed three walks before Towson left all three runners stranded.
