DOVER (November 11, 2008) - This past Saturday, as part of Student Appreciation Day, Delaware State University Athletics teamed up with the Delaware Division of Public Health’s Tobacco prevention community contract in a campaign to “Help Put Out the Fire!”

As part of the promotion door hangers were distributed in the residence halls to encourage students to attend the November 8 home football game versus Winston-Salem State.  The door hangers had an entry to win a flat screen LCD television, factual information regarding the dangers of tobacco use, and an opportunity to pledge to remain tobacco free.

Sophomore Courtney Haas was randomly selected as the lucky student to take home the grand prize.

Additional promotions will be held at athletic events in the months to come.

Thanks to all who participated and hope to see you at the next event.
