BLACKSBURG, Va. (May 10, 2009) The Delaware State Baseball Team (19-23-1) dropped two games to the Virginia Tech Hokies (30-20), losing the first game, 12-8, and falling 15-1 in Game Two on Sunday, May 10 at English Field.

In Game One, The Hornets scored eight runs on 14 hits and were led by Abe Eubank, who went 4-for-5 with two RBI and two runs scored. Eubank hit his ninth home run of the season during the contest. Senior Ryne Mailen also registered four hits, going 4-for-5 with a run scored.

Right-hander Dan Perkins suffered the loss, allowing seven runs on six hits with four strikeouts in four and one-third innings of action.

The Hokies scored 12 runs on 14 hits in the game.

In Game Two, DSU registered six hits during the 15-1 loss. Josh Harris led the team in hits, going 2-for-2. Jose Portela drove in the team’s lone run (Warren Stimpson), going 1-for-3.

Jordan Elliott suffered the loss, allowing nine runs on eight hits in one inning pitched.

VT tallied 15 runs on 20 hits.

With the losses, DSU finishes the 2009 regular season with a 19-23-1 record.

DSU will travel to Daytona Beach, Fla., to take part in the 2009 MEAC Baseball Tournament beginning Thursday, May 14.
