Dover, Del. (Oct. 10, 2019) --- Rachel Sorkenn scored two goals to lead George Washington to a 3-0 victory over Delaware State at Alumni Stadium today. The Colonials won their eighth straight match and are unbeaten in their last 12 contests to improve to 10-1-2 this season.

The Hornets are winless in 14 matches this season.

Despite being outshot by a wide margin, the Hornets kept the Colonials off the board for the first 44 minutes of the match.

Sorkenn broke the ice with her first goal of the contest with 22 seconds left in the first half. Hannah Zaluski was credited with the assist on the goal.

George Washington opened up a 2-0 lead on Sorkenn’s second goal off a feed from Maria Pareja in the 57th minute.

The Colonials added an insurance goal on a shot by Megan McCormick in the 75th minute.

Delaware State was outshot 22-2 in the contest. Hornet goal keeper Fabrea McCray recorded six saves.

DSU is also home for its next two matches, Oct. 14 vs. Navy (4:00 p.m.) and Oct. 21 against Penn (6:00 p.m.).
