Geoff Kimmel
Assistant Coach/Recruiting Coordinator

Kimmel joined the Delaware State coaching staff in July 2018. He most recently served as an assistant for two seasons at Furman of the Southern Conference (2017-18).  The Paladins, led by three All-Southern Conference players, reached the conference championship game in 2017. Furman had a .312 team batting average and .478 slugging percentage that season. Furman RHP

Will Gaddis was selected in the third round of the 2017 Major League Baseball draft. In 2018, Paladin outfielder Ben Anderson was an All-America selection.

Prior to his tenure at Furman, Kimmel was an assistant for two years at fellow Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference member Coppin State and previously served a two-year stint at his alma mater, Wesley College in Dover.


While at Wesley, Kimmel helped mentor 2013 Capital Athletic Conference Rookie-of-the-Year Trevor Mears, who earned All-CAC First Team recognition in 2014. Kimmel also contributed to Corey Jefferson’s All-CAC season in 2014.

After a pair of successful seasons as an assistant, Kimmel was named the head coach of the Myrtle Beach Surf, a collegiate summer league team in the Beach Collegiate Baseball League (BCBL) in 2014. At the helm of a program for the first time in his coaching career, Kimmel recruited his entire roster and led the Surf to a league title.

One of the greatest players in Wesley College history, Kimmel is one of just three Wolverines to  with two-.400 seasons, including a Capital Athletic Conference-leading .425 in 2012. Kimmel hit .401 and named to the All-CAC First Team in 2009. During his historic senior season, Kimmel also led the CAC with 54 RBI and .495 on-base percentage, earning All-Region and All-Conference to help lead the Wolverines to a team-record 31 wins.

Kimmel graduated from Wesley as the school’s career leader in games played (165), runs batted in (155) and doubles (45), while ranking second in hits (213), seventh in batting average (.368) and tenth in runs scored (110). His 74 base knocks and 15 doubles in 2012 are also Wolverines single-season records.
