Dover, Del. (Mar. 2, 2018) --- Delaware State will face No. 4 North Carolina A&T in the opening round of the 2018 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball Tournament on Mar. 5 at 6:30 p.m. at the Scope Arena in Norfolk, Va.

The Hornets, seeded 13th in the tournament, fell to the Aggies 76-66 in the only regular season meeting between the teams on Jan. 8 at DSU’s Memorial Hall. Artem Tavakalyan was high scorer for Delaware State with 23 points, while Kenzel Keyes came off the bench to lead five NCA&T players in double-figures with 17 points in the regular season contest.

This will be the first MEAC tournament meeting since 2013 and eighth all-time between the Hornets and Aggies. North Carolina A&T holds a 5-2 lead over DSU in MEAC Tournament contests.

The DSU/NCA&T winner will face the winner of the No. 5 Norfolk State vs. No. 12 Maryland-Eastern Shore contest on Thursday at 8 p.m.

Top three seeds Hampton, Bethune-Cookman and Savannah State received first round byes in the tournament.

The tournament semi-finals are set for Friday (Mar. 9) at 6 & 8 p.m. The championship game is Sat. (mar. 10) at 1 p.m., and will be televised live on ESPN2 & ESPN3.

The MEAC Tournament winner receives an automatic bid to the 2018 NCAA Tournament.
