Greensboro, NC. (May. 6, 2017) --- The Hornet's Men Track and Field program finished in 12th place, scoring 21 points at the MEAC Outdoor Championships. This is a marked improvement for the Hornets. Last year the team only scored five points.

The highest scoring event for the Hornets came in the 4 X 400 relay. The foursome of Cameron Burgess, Kiyair Lambert, Laray Smith, and Kendall Leach finished in second place, with a recorded time of 3-minutes-11.21 seconds. Their performance earned them a silver medal and scored eight points for DSU.

The 4 x 100 relay team composed of Kendall Leach, Trenson Terry, Julius Allen and Roderick Brown finished in eighth place (43.20 seconds) and gave the Hornets an additional point.

Aran Lee had a career best performance in the Javelin event. He tossed the Javelin 51.03 meters through the air. His mark was good enough to finish third and win a bronze medal. In addition, he scored six points for the Hornets.

Adam Funkhouser finished placed fifth in the Pole Vault, with a mark of 3.72 meters. His performance scored four points for DSU.

Kiyair Lambert advanced to the finals after running a recorded time of 52.33 seconds (sixth place finish) in the 400 hurdles preliminaries. Lambert finished in seventh place in the finals after recording a time of 54.30. His seventh-place finish in the 400 hurdles finals gave the Hornets an additional two points.

Next on the schedule for DSU, is the ECAC/IC4A Championships, also known as the super conference championship. This prestigious meet starts on May. 20, at Princeton, N.J.
