The Hornets have dropped their last three games to fall to 4-13 overall and 0-5 in the MEAC, DSU’s worst league start since a 0-6 beginning to the 1999-2000 conference season. The Hornets are coming off a 62-52 loss to North Carolina Central on Saturday. Delaware State trailed 32-21 at the half, but rallied to take a 39-38 lead on a basket by Casey Walker with 10:11 left to play. The score was 42-42 when NCCU pulled away for good. Alphonzo Houston capped off an 9-1 run with a lay-up to give the Eagles a 51-43 lead with 5:36 remaining. The Hornets pulled to within 54-48 after Tyshawn Bell hit a three-pointer with 4:15 left. Houston hit another lay-up on the ensuing NCCU possession to launch an 8-2 run over the next 3:58 to seal the win for the Eagles.
