Dover, Del. (Feb. 22, 2013) --- The Delaware State University men's basketball team welcomes Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference leader Norfolk State to Memorial Hall on Saturday. Game time is 4:00 p.m.
The Hornets have won their last two games to improve to 12-13 overall and 7-4 in the MEAC. Norfolk State, the defending the MEAC Tournament champ, brings an 11-game win streak into the contest. The Spartans are 17-10 overall and 12-0 in league games this season.
This will be the second meeting between the teams this season. The Spartans won the first contest 74-56 on Feb. 9 in Norfolk, Va., snapping a five-game losing streak to the Hornets.
Delaware State's Memorial Hall has been a tough place for Norfolk State to play in recent years. The Hornets have won the last eight meetings between the teams in Dover, including a 67-50 victory last season. Norfolk State's last win in Dover was on Jan. 26, 2004 (82-80 in overtime).
DSU is coming off a thrilling 52-50 win over Morgan State on Monday. The Hornets trailed by as many as 16 points early in the contest and was down by 11 at the half. Delaware State hit 12-of-20 second half shots, and outscored the Bears 34-21 in the final 20 minutes.
The Hornets are in fifth place in the current MEAC standings, just behind fourth place Hampton (8-4).
Norfolk State has not lost since a 62-61 setback to Ball State on January 2. The Spartans are one game ahead of second place North Carolina Central (11-1).
