THE GAME
Delaware State returns to Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference play with a visit to UMES. The Hornets are 6-9 overall and 1-0 in the MEAC. The league victory was against UMES (76-66) on Dec., 2012 in Dover, Del. DSU has been idle since an 86-51 loss at Arkansas to wrap up its non-conference schedule on Jan. 5. Casey Walker was high scorer for the Hornets in the Arkansas contest with 13 points. His performance was highlighted by three three-point field goals. Tahj Tate was the only other Hornet in double figures with 10 points at Arkansas.     

UMES (0-13; 0-2 MEAC) is seeking its first win of the season. The Hawks are coming off a 63-58  loss to MEAC leader Norfolk State last Saturday. UMES led 22-15 at the half, but was outscored 48-36 in the final 20 minutes of the contest. Kevin Mays led the Hawks with a game-high 27 points vs. Norfolk State. Mays was 10-for-12 from the field. He also pulled down 10 rebounds. Ishaq Pitt came off the bench to add 14 points (6-8 FGs), while Francis Ezeiru had a game-high 13 rebounds for the Hawks.             
  

DSU vs. UMES (DSU leads 52-46 )
The teams are meeting for the second time this season. Delaware State won the first contest 76-66 on Dec. 1  in Dover, Del.  Tahj Tate led the Hornets with a season-high 24 points. Tate was 10-for-16 from the field and also led the Hornets with three assists. Casey Walker added a thenseason-high 15 points for the Hornets. His performance was highlighted by five three-point field goals. DSU recorded 10 blocks in the contest, with Kendall Gray and Marques Oliver collecting five each. Kyree Jones led three UMES players in double figures with 24 points.  Delaware State has won 14 of the last 17 meetings between the teams to open up a 52-46 lead in the series. The last time the teams met at UMES, Delaware State posted a 78-68 victory during the 2011-12 season.
