Dover, Del. (Dec. 11, 2012) --- Delaware State University football standouts Travis Tarpley (sr.; Danville, Va.) and Nick Elko (sr.; Odenton, Md.) will represent the Hornets in a national all-star game this weekend. Tarpley and Elko are members of the North squad in the 2012 Football Championship Subdivision Senior Scout Bowl Game this Saturday (Dec. 15) in Myrtle Beach, S.C. Game time is 5:00 p.m.
Game officials say a total of 17 National Football League, four Canadian Football League and four European football representatives are expected to attend the all-star week practices and the contest.
The North squad is coached by members of the Johnson C. Smith University staff, while the South will be headed by the North Carolina Central University coaching staff.

Tarpley and Elko are among 12 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference players slated to compete in the contest.
Elko, the 2012 MEAC Offensive Player-of-the-Year, led the league in passing average (257.1 ypg) and total offense (250.3 ypg); and was third in passing efficiency (130.1 rating). He completed a DSU single-season record 259 passes on 412 attempts (62.5%) for 2,828 yards (also a school record) and 15 touchdowns this past season. Elko completed his Hornet career ranked second in team history in passing yards (5,754) and completions (539), and third in touchdown passes (37). He is Delaware State's first MEAC Offensive Player-of-the-Year since Rahsaan Matthews (QB) in 2000.
Tarpley, a 2012 All-MEAC First Team selection, was number one in the league in receptions (7.8 pg) and receiving yards (96.2 pg), and tied for first in touchdown catches (7) this season. He set new Hornet records with 86 receptions for 1,058 yards during the 2012 season.
