Delaware State returns to the road to take on red-hot Eastern Kentucky. The Hornets (3-4) wrapped up a 10-day, four-game road trip with a 63-53 loss to Navy in the South Padre Island Invitational on Saturday (Nov. 24). DSU hit just seven-of-28 first half shots, and trailed 35-20 at the break. The Hornets trimmed a 24-point second half deficit to 10, but could get no closer. Kendall Gray and Tyshawn Bell led DSU with 13 points each in the contest. Gray also had seven rebounds and four blocks to lead all players. The Hornets have lost their last four games after opening the season with three straight wins.
Eastern Kentucky is off to a 5-0 start this season. Win number five for the Colonels came at the expense of Delaware State's fellow Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) member Norfolk State, the reigning MEAC champ. EKU posted a 60-44 win over the Spartans last Saturday. Mike DiNunno led three Colonels in double figures with 19 points. His performance was highlighted by four-for -six shooting on three-pointers and 5-of-5 at the free throw line. Eastern Kentucky is in the midst of a seven-game season-opening home stand.
