STARKVILLE, Miss. - For the second consecutive season, senior Jordan Reid (Accokeek, Md.) was named a National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division I All-Mid-Atlantic First team selection, the organization announced late Thursday morning.

For her play in 2011, Reid was the first Delaware State softball player to be named to the First Team after garnering Second Team honors in 2010.  She is the fourth Hornet to earn this award, joining Patty Brown (2000), Janice Savage (2004) and Catrina Ansbach (2006).

A total of 263 players representing 129 different institutions comprise this season's regional teams, including first and second teams for each region.  Reid is the lone Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference player on both lists.

Previously this year, the outfielder made history being the first student-athlete to be named a three-time MEAC Player of the Year and was also honored as the Delaware State University Female Student-Athlete of the Year for the second straight season.

Through play on Monday, Reid is currently 26th in the nation and leads the MEAC with a .420 batting average.  She also leads the conference and is 25th in the NCAA with 41 runs scored.  Her 4.0 triples per game are good for 27th in the country while she is 30th with 0.32 hit by pitch per game.

Delaware State wrapped up 2012 season with a 25-18-1 overall mark.  The 18 losses are the fewest in DSU history since 1994 when the Hornets were 18-10.

The all-region teams were chosen by NFCA member coaches from each region and all honorees are now eligible for selection to one of three 2012 NFCA Division I All-American teams.  The 2012 NFCA Division I All-America teams will be announced at 5 p.m. EDT Wednesday, May 30, on
