Dover, Del. (Apr. 14, 2012) --- A historic season for the Delaware State University women's tennis team ended in disappointment today. The Hornets fell to Howard 4-0 in a MEAC Tournament semi-final contest at the Millbrook Tennis Center.

The loss snapped DSU's school-record 16-match win streak and ended the Hornets' bid for their first MEAC Tournament title.

Howard won each of the completed singles and doubles contests to advance to Sunday's championship match against South Carolina State.

Delaware State freshman Vanja Andonova, the 2012 MEAC Rookie-of-the-Year, fell to Howard's Michelle Brown 6-1, 6-3 at No. 4 singles, snapping a school-record string of 16 straight wins.

DSU reached the semi-finals for the second straight year with  4-2 win over Florida A&M in the quarterfinals on Friday

The Hornets won a school-record 16 matches (16-3 overall) and captured their first MEAC Northern Division title this season.
