Dover, Del. (Sep. 1, 2011) --- The Capital City Rotary Club in Dover rolled out the welcome mat for new Delaware State University head football coach Kermit Blount during its weekly meeting at the Sheraton Hotel and Conference Center this afternoon.

Blount was the featured speaker for the gathering of local business and civic leaders.

During his remarks, Blount thanked the Rotarians for welcoming him to the area, and for their service to the community.

In addition, he shared his vision for the DSU football program. While expressing his desire to produce a championship team, Blount emphasized his goal of developing quality young men who will earn a degree from the university.

Following his remarks, the Capital City Rotary Club donated a book in Blount's name to the local library.

Blount will make his Delaware State University coaching debut this Saturday against Virginia Military Institution (VMI) in Lexington, Va.  The season opening game kicks off at 1:30 p.m.

The Hornets will play their home opener on Sat., Sep. 10 against Shaw University. Game time is 6:00 p.m. at Alumni Stadium.
