Dover, Del. (Oct. 27, 2009) --- The Delaware State men's tennis team closed out its fall schedule with road losses to Mount St. Mary's (4-3) and Drexel (6-1) last weekend. The Hornets posted a 2-3 record this fall.
In the Mount St. Mary's match, freshman Christopher Kano and Roman Pitatelev captured singles wins for the Hornets. Kano was a 6-2, 6-2 winner in the No. 1 match, while Pitatelev earned a 6-4, 6-2 victory at No. 4.
Delaware State's Brian Gelis and Mount's Mike Salomon had the best match of the day. Salomon dropped the first set before bouncing back to win the contest 4-6, 6-3, 7-5.
Kano and Pitatelev gave Delaware State an 8-3 win in the No. 2 doubles match, while Gelis and Milos Velickovic won by default at No. 3 doubles.
In the Drexel match, Kano collected the lone singles win for the Hornets, coming out on top 6-3, 6-2 in the No. 1 contest. He also joined with Pitatelev for an 8-3 win at No. 2 doubles.
