Dover, Del. (Sep. 20, 2009) --- The Delaware State men's tennis team won four of six singles matches en route to a 4-3 win over Rider in the fall opener for the Hornets at Wesley College today.

Christopher Kano, making his Delaware State debut, posted a 6-0, 6-0 win over Rider's Greg Anastasid at No. 1 singles. Milos Velickovic (No. 3 singles) and Roman Pitatelev (No. 4) also recorded straight-set wins for the Hornets.

Velickovic was a 6-1, 6-4 winner over Ryan Carpenter, while Pitatelev defeated Rob Olsen 6-1, 6-0.

Delaware State's Brian Gelis (No. 2 singles) won by default.

Gelis and Velickovic also teamed up for the Hornets' lone doubles win, posting an 8-2 victory in the No. 1 contest.
