DOVER, Del. (September 12, 2008) – The Delaware State Softball Team has named Laura Streets the new assistant softball coach as announced by Head Coach Jeff Savage yesterday.

“I have known Laura for many years,” said Savage.”  She is a quality person and coach, who brings a great variety of collegiate and professional experiences to our program.”

In her senior season at Delaware, Streets was named the 2004 Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Year.  She then traveled to Italy to play for the Italian Professional Softball League in 2005. There, she was voted the league’s top defensive third baseman.  She continued to play in Italy until she took the assistant coaching position at Susquehanna University last season.

Streets, along with the rest of the 2008 MEAC Champion Softball Team, will begin their fall schedule against Delaware Tech-Owens, on September 27.
