Waco, Tex. (Oct. 3, 2018) --- Delaware State University Hunter Seat rider Gabrielle Fournier (so.) has been honored by the National Collegiate Equestrian Association for her performances in the Hornets’ season opening contests last weekend.

Fournier has been selected as the NCEA’s Equifit Equitation Over Fences September Rider of the Month.      

The Litchfield, Conn., native posted a perfect 4-0 Fences record last weekend, with each victory against a nationally-ranked opponent. Her average winning margin is 29.5 points in Fences this season.

Fournier recorded the Hornets’ lone Fences point vs. nationally-ranked Baylor and  Texas Christian, and helped lead the Hornets to victories over Fresno State and Tennessee Martin in Waco, Tex., last weekend.

Delaware State, ranked eighth in this week’s NCEA Top 10 poll, will host its first competition of the season this Sunday (Oct. 7). The Hornets will compete against Sweet Briar and Converse College. The event begins at 10:00 a.m. at the Dovington Training Center in Felton, Del.
