Dover, Del. (Apr. 16, 2018) --- The Delaware State women's golf team took first place at an event for the second time in its history last weekend.

The Hornets defeated La Salle and Niagara to claim first place at the La Salle Tri Match at Tallmore Country Club. 


Niagara finished second, four shots behind Delaware State, while La Salle was third, 24 shots behind the leader.


In the individual standings, the Hornets had two of the top five finishers.


Delaware State’s Panisara Chimsuiti was the overall leader among 14 competitors, becoming the school's first individual champion at an event. DSU’s Ireanna Peete was in a three-way tie for third place.


Among the other Hornet competitors, Erin Kopinak was tied for eighth and Ana Candela Ferreyra Heit shared 10th place..
