Anthony Vitale
Offensive Line Coach

Vitale is in his first year on the Delaware State staff. He most recently served as offensive line coach at Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, Mo.

During his four years at Southwest Baptist (2014-17), Vitale helped transform the Bearcats from a team that posted a 1-10 overall record before he arrived to a 10-2 Great Lakes Valley Conference championship squad. In addition, he coached one All-America and eight All-GLVC offensive linemen while at SBU.

The 2016 Southwest Baptist conference championship team was ranked in the NCAA Div. II Top 25 final poll and hosted a national playoff game for the first time in program history.
Also that season, the Bearcat offense finished 10th in the nation and tops in the GLVC in total offense (505.0 ypg) and scoring offense (42.1 ppg).

SBU running back Bubba Jenkins was third among all Div. II players with 1,560 rushing yards in 2016. Jenkins finished his college career as the all-time rushing leader in GLVC history (3,024 yards),  along with holding the SBU & GLVC single-season rushing records (1,560 yards).

Prior to his tenure at Southwest Baptist, Vitale coached at Lindenwood University, where he served as an offensive graduate assistant and assistant offensive line coach. He helped guide the Lions to a successful transition into NCAA Division II football and the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association. The Lions were 8-4 in their inaugural MIAA season, highlighted by a win over 2011 Division II National Champion Pittsburg State and a berth in the Mineral Water Bowl.

Vitale’s coaching resume’ spent 12 seasons at Notre Dame High School in Sherman Oaks, Cal., where he served as offensive line coach. While at Notre Dame, Vitale helped lead the Knights to a 122-25 overall record and three CIF Southern Section Championships, including a team ranked 11th in the United States by MaxPreps. During his time as a high school offensive line coach, Vitale was a resource to local youth and high school coaches as a presenter on multiple occasions to the USA Football Youth Coaches Clinic and to the USA Football Concussion Symposium.  He was also a guest offensive line coach at Pete Carrol’s Win Forever Academy.
