Chestertown, Md.  (Mar. 2, 2018) --- Delaware State won five of the six singles matches to highlight a 6-3 women’s tennis victory at Washington College on Friday.

Three Hornets were straight set winners in singles competition.

DSU’s Elvira Galieva posted the most convincing win of the match, topping Sarah Bruno 6-0, 6-1 in the No. 5 contest.  Alina Polyvana was also a straight set winner at No. 4 for the Hornets, defeating Ella Samer 6-2, 6-2.

In the No. 6 singles match, Delaware State’s Aayushi Chouhan upended Kiran Pant 6-1, 6-2.

Cassandra Boltan and Anastasia Belkrina needed three sets to earn singles wins for the Hornets. Bolton bounced back from a first set loss to win 6-3 and 6-1 in sets two and three to prevail in the No. 2 match, while Belkrina also dropped the first set at No. 3, but rallied to win 6-4, 6-4 in the last two sets.

Belkrina and Galieva also teamed up for the Hornets’ lone doubles win at No. 3 (8-4).
