Soccer Coaching Staff

Katie moved from Arizona in the summer of 2016 and began working as the Volunteer Assistant Goalkeeper Coach at Delaware State in September of last year.  She played Division 1 soccer in the goal at Butler University in Indianapolis from 2001-2005. At Butler, she was a 3 year starter,  earned Player of the Week honors from the Horizon League, and graduated with a Secondary Education and History Degree with a GPA of 3.2.  After leaving Butler and volunteering abroad for a year, Katie returned to the states and began teaching and coaching middle schoolers in Chicago.  In 2008, she moved back to Arizona where she taught high school History and coached the JV Girls Team at Flowing Wells High School until 2010. After a summer in South Africa volunteering, coaching and attending the World Cup she came back to Arizona and obtained her Personal Training Certification from the National Academy of Sports Medicine.  She spent 2010-2013 as the Girls Varsity Assistant Coach at Sahuaro High School in Tucson. In 2013, she also began working as the Assistant Coach at Pima Community College working with the goalkeepers and defense as well as running the fitness program. Katie coached at Pima for 3 seasons, from 2013-2015, where the team went to the Junior College National Championship in Melbourne, Florida in both 2014 and 2015. Pima won the ACCAC Conference Championship both of those years as well as the Region 1 District Championship with a different goalkeeper each season.  During the 2015 season, Katie coached her goalkeeper to 2 ACCAC Conference Goalkeeper of the Week honors, national recognition as the NJCAA Division 1 Goalkeeper of the Week, and ACCAC Conference 1st Team honors having just 10 goals scored on her in 22 games. Pima finished the 2014 season ranked 7th in the nation and the 2015 season ranked 11th in the nation.   In August of 2014 until 2016 when she moved to Delaware, Katie coached at Tanque Verde Soccer Club as the Director of Goalkeeping and coached a U-11 Girls Team. In 2015, she also coached the Goalkeepers for the Women’s side of FC Tucson, a WPSL team affiliated with the PDL men’s club.  She also ran the FC Tucson Youth Academy’s Goalkeeper Program as the Director of Goalkeeping working with elite 12-18 year olds. On the FC Tucson Women's side, Katie’s goalkeeper was named the Teams’ Co-MVP, was selected as a 2015 WPSL All-Star, and was selected to tryout in the NWSL Draft. Katie holds her National E license as well as the NSCAA Goalkeeping Level 2 License.
