Dover, Del. (Jan. 6) --- The Delaware State Lady Hornets snap their nine-game losing streak, defeating South Carolina State Bulldogs 58-44. The Lady Hornets improve to 2-13 overall; 1-1 in the MEAC. The Bulldogs drop to 5-9; 1-1 in the conference.

Delaware State took control in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Bulldogs 58-44 in the final 10 minutes. NaJai Pollard opened the quarter with an And-1 finish at the rim. After a free throw by SCSU cut the lead to 43-40, both teams would go scoreless for the next three minutes. Ryan Jones ended the drought for the Lady Hornets drilling a three pointer and giving DSU a 46-40 lead. Then Arion Jackson scored a layup after a nice assist by NaJai Pollard. On the next possession Lanayjha Ashe found Keke Barber underneath the basket for a layup, extending their lead to 10. The run would finally be capped off later in the fourth quarter, after Ryan Jones broke a full court press and found Arion Jackson open for a layup. giving the Lady Hornets a 58-40 lead with 44 seconds left in the game.

The Lady Hornets trailed 7-5, with 6:43 left in the first quarter. DSU went on a 12-2 run, capped off by a three-pointer from NaJai Pollard. The spurt gave Delaware State a 17-9 lead after the first quarter of play.

The Bulldogs outscored The Lady Hornets 30-21 in the next two quarters, cutting DSU’s lead to just one point entering the fourth quarter.

Delaware State made 22-of-59 (37.3%) field goal attempts and converted 9-of-21 (42.9%) three-pointers.

NaJai Pollard recorded 14 points (team high), 12 rebounds (game high), and four blocks (game high).

Keke Barber tallied 12 points, and seven rebounds.

Lanayjha Ashe added nine points, four assists (game high), and four steals (game high).

South Carolina State shot just 16-of-61 (26.2%) from the field, and only 6-of-19 (31.6%) from behind the arc.

Bryeasha Blair led SCSU in scoring with 16 points.
