Boca Raton, Fla. (Dec. 29) --- Delaware State lost in the third-place game of the Florida Atlantic Holiday Tournament, falling to the Stetson Hatters 58-43. DSU drops to 1-12 and Stetson improves to 8-7 on the season.

The Lady Hornets and the Stetson Hatters were tied at 6-6, when DSU went on a 6-0 run capped off by a layup from Arion Jackson, with 3:03 left in the first quarter. DSU led 16-12 heading into the second quarter.

A low scoring second quarter by both teams. Stetson outscored Delaware State 10-6, to tie the game at 22, heading into halftime.

Stetson started the second half by scoring the first eight points, taking a 30-22 lead with 7:22 left in the third quarter.  The Lady Hornets responded with a 12-3 run, highlighted by six points from Lanayjha Ashe during their scoring spurt. Ashe’s jump shot with 53 seconds left in the quarter gave DSU a brief 34-33 lead. The Hatters responded by scoring the last five points of the quarter, giving the Hatters an 38-34 lead heading into the final ten minutes of regulation.

Stetson pulled away from DSU in the fourth quarter, they went on a 12-4 spurt that put the game out of reach.

Delaware State shot 17-57 (29.8%) from the field, and only 2-12 (16.7%) on three-point field goals.

Arion Jackson led the team with 12 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Lanayjha Ashe added 10 points and five rebounds. Keke Barber recorded eight points and eight rebounds (team high).

Stetson made 23-50 (46.0%) field goals attempts, only converted on 1-9 (11.1%) three-pointers.
